Project Description
- Project resources
GeoNetwork opensource is a web based Geographic Metadata Catalog System originally developed by FAO-UN, WFP-UN, UNEP and UN-OCHA.
The system allows organizations to publish and share spatial data and related products. International standards are used to ensure maximum interoperability between different software applications used to create and access spatial data.
GeoNetwork opensource provides
- online editing of metadata with a powerful template system.
- up- and downloading of data, documents, PDF's and any other content type.
- Scheduled harvesting/ synchronizing of metadata between distributed catalogs, providing instant search results and attribution of data.
- Group and user management.
- An integrated, interactive Web Map Viewer to combine Web Map Services from distributed servers.
A single, platform independent installer allows to install and run the software on a PC or a server on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. The installer can be downloaded as an executable Windows file or as a platform independent .jar installer. It creates a Start menu on Windows computers. Command line installations are also possible for remote installations. Please refer to chapter 6 of the manual for detailed installation instructions.
